Our School Trip to Oxford

Last week, our class took a trip to Oxford. Our journey started on the 23rd of October at the Klagenfurt bus station. We left around half past two and arrived in Oxford at nine in the evening. Our host families picked us up and showed us a bit of the city on the drive to our new homes.

The next morning, we went to school at the Center for English Studies and took our placement test. They divided us into groups, and we had lessons every day from 9AM to 1PM. We made new friends from all around the world in our classes. Class was always really entertaining. They made us talk a lot and we had a lot of debates.

In the afternoons, we had half-day excursions, which included sightseeing in Oxford and visits to Stratford and Bath. In Oxford, we saw the Christ Church College and the places where several scenes from Harry Potter were filmed. We visited the birthplace of William Shakespeare in Stratford and saw a lot of different architecture in Bath. On the last day, we went to Stonehenge, an old and mysterious stone circle in the middle of nowhere.

The daytime programme was pretty good, but the highlights of the trip were actually in the evenings. One night, we went to the cinema and watched the action movie, “Jack Reacher”. On another night, we went bowling.

The language week ended on the 29th of October. We got up early on the last day to say goodbye to our host families and to get to the airport. The trip to England was amazing and very interesting for the whole class. Our families were very nice and Oxford is a beautiful city. We’ll always remember the time we spent there and we would be happy to visit England again.
